Central to the work of artist Maksaens Denis (Haiti) is the question of looking: Who is looking? What is shown and from what perspective?

For him, photography and video do not document, but envelop and distort readability. Denis’ work is sensitive to social injustice, racism, and homophobia. It challenges our gaze and our position as spectators. It tries to offer us new perspectives so that we can pay more attention to the stories of minorities, so that we can live together in the world differently. He invites us to think differently about our relationship with the world, and how we can live (together) in it, not through domination or survival, but by acknowledging shared vulnerabilities and the solidarity we need to build.

RADICAL TOGETHERNESS

Art as care. Presence as resistance.

SUN 12 JUL ’26 – SUN 09 AUG ’26

Radical Togetherness starts with a simple act: being there. It is built through art, ceremony, presence, and the courage to be seen, for each other, for our stories, for the world we want to live in. Radical Togetherness is Podium Mozaïek’s multidisciplinary program for Amsterdam Pride and WorldPride 2026, from July 11 to August 9, that brings queer artists and communities from Haiti, Taiwan, and the Pacific into conversation with Amsterdam. This series of programs is rooted in the belief that ‘being there for each other’ is both an act of care and an act of resistance.
