Uniarte was initiated in 2010 and supported by its founder, Sharelly Emanuelson, who developed the platform together with other Caribbean artists. In line with Uniarte’s further new development, Emanuelson will now take on the role of board member.

This next phase consciously creates space for cultural facilitators, programmers and emerging curators to further develop their practice and actively contribute to strengthening the art infrastructure on the islands.  Uniarte Foundation expands its team in a sustainable way for the first time. In this context, two part-time positions have been made possible. Uniarte is pleased to announce that the first position has been filled by Nicole van Beusekom. Within this process, she is given the space and time to further develop and perpetuate her own practice supported by Mondriaanfonds and coached (in part online) by Sasha Dees (2026-2028).  NB: the second position is filled per May 2026 by Dobora Noordwijk.

The new headquarters at Bloemhof offers Uniarte a physical base for artistic experiments, residencies, workshops and public programmes. In addition, this step concludes a Memorandum of Understanding with Bloemhof, laying the foundation for a three-year collaboration. This collaboration is rooted in a shared ambition to strengthen cultural development on the island and to create a meeting place for artists, curators and thinkers to collectively reflect on social, cultural and environmental issues. With this step, Uniarte looks forward to sharing new developments, programs and collaborations from its base at Bloemhof, and thus further strengthen connections locally, regionally and internationally.

UNIARTE is an art platform based in Curaçao, focused on contemporary and interdisciplinary artistic practices. Uniarte supports artistic research, experimentation and knowledge exchange and engages with social, cultural and environmental contexts through exhibitions, residencies, workshops and public programmes.
