FILMSCREENING: Getting It Back: the Story of Cymande + LIVESHOW CYMANDE
(OPENINGS CONCERT SUPAFLY FESTIVAL)
Black Soil, together with Filmhuis, Paard, and SUPAFLY festival, team up for a double bill: a film screening and a concert of UK funk band Cymande.
Everyone has heard Cymande — but almost no one knows their name. The British soul/funk legends were sampled endlessly by hip-hop and dance icons, and were true pioneers in blending African rhythms with rock, reggae, and soul. Cymande is one of the most important British R&B/Soul groups of their generation — a band that many people have heard, yet few actually know by name.
On the very same day, Cymande takes the stage at PAARD, we’re getting you in the mood with Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande (2022) — a vibrant documentary about the band that shaped the soundtrack of generations, all while remaining largely out of the spotlight themselves. Together we’re bringing their story to the big screen — so you can groove twice as hard when the concert kicks off later that evening.
Friday October 10th
Filmhuis Den Haag / PAARD / 17:30 – 19:05 / 20:00 – 23:00
