On Tuesday, March 25 at 6:45 PM, Podium Mozaiek & Black Soil Film Festival proudly presents: The screening of The Last Poets / Made in Amerikkka – a genre-defying cinematic statement as powerful and uncompromising as The LAST POETS themselves. Through jazz, funk, and razor-sharp poetry, this film exposes the oppression of African Americans.
Nearly 40 years after their breakup, the pioneers of hip-hop, rap, and slam reunite in Paris for a one-time concert at the Banlieues Bleues Festival 2008. In their rehearsal space, they reflect on their origins, political resistance, and creative force, joined by Great Black Music icons: Ronald Shannon Jackson, Jamaladeen Tacuma, Robert Irving III, and Kenyatte Abdur-Rahman.
After the screening, join us for a Q&A with members of The Last Poets and a live performance with Abiodun Oyewole, Felipe Luciano, Sharrif Simmons and Baba Don Babatunde
