Black Soil Film Festival and Africadelic present an exclusive pre-release of the documentary Ernest Cole: Lost & Found, directed by Raoul Peck at LAB 111. The film can be seen in cinemas in the Netherlands from January 16th, 2025, onwards don’t sleep on it!
The documentary honors photographer Ernest Cole, who made apartheid visible with his groundbreaking work House of Bondage. The documentary is a captivating tribute to the photographer whose work is still relevant today. Based on Ernest Cole’s stunning photographs, director Raoul Peck (I Am Not Your Negro) talks about his wanderings, his restlessness as an artist, and his daily anger about the complicity of the Western world in the face of the horrors of the apartheid regime. Showing the harsh reality had a price: Cole was exiled to New York. The fact that he saw more and more similarities in the US with the racism in his own country was a hard lesson.
