Hunter East Harlem gallery has partnered with the Uptown Triennial, Columbia University Wallach Art Gallery to create the UPTOWN ARTIST GROUP PORTRAIT–a public event that invites any self-identifying artist and people working in the arts living and/or working in Uptown, Manhattan to present themselves in a large group portrait.
I moved Uptown 18 years ago after 2 years in Brooklyn. I guess that made me qualify as a bonafide Harlemite, as Deborah Cullen gallery director of Wallach Art Gallery invited me to be part of the portrait. In my hand I’m holding the picture of visual artists Vladimir Cybil Charlier, who lives right on the Marcus Garvey Park where the picture was made and couldn’t be there.
